چکیده

The circumference c(G) of a graph G is the length of a longest cycle. By exploiting our recent results on resistance of snarks, we construct infinite classes of cyclically 4-, 5and 6-edge-connected cubic graphs with circumference ratio c(G)/|V (G)| bounded from above by 0.876, 0.960 and 0.990, respectively. In contrast, the dominating cycle conjecture implies that the circumference ratio of a cyclically 4-edgeconnected cubic graph is at least 0.75. In addition, we construct snarks with large girth and large circumference deficit, solving Problem 1 proposed in [J. Hägglund and K. Markström, On stable cycles and cycle double covers of graphs with large circumference, Disc. Math. 312 (2012), 2540–2544].

Circumference of 3-connected claw-free graphs and large Eulerian subgraphs of 3-edge-connected graphs

The circumference of a graph is the length of its longest cycles. Results of Jackson, and Jackson and Wormald, imply that the circumference of a 3-connected cubic n-vertex graph is Ω(n), and the circumference of a 3-connected claw-free graph is Ω(n). We generalise and improve the first result by showing that every 3-edge-connected graph with m edges has an Eulerian subgraph with Ω(m) edges. We ...

On stable cycles and cycle double covers of graphs with large circumference

A cycle C in a graph is called stable if there exist no other cycle D in the same graph such that V (C) ⊆ V (D). In this paper we study stable cycles in snarks and based on our findings we are able to show that if a cubic graph G has a cycle of length at least |V (G)| − 9 then it has a cycle double cover. We also give a construction for an infinite snark family with stable cycles of constant le...

Covering cubic graphs with matchings of large size

Let m be a positive integer and let G be a cubic graph of order 2n. We consider the problem of covering the edge-set of G with the minimum number of matchings of size m. This number is called the excessive [m]-index of G in the literature. The case m = n, that is, a covering with perfect matchings, is known to be strictly related to an outstanding conjecture of Berge and Fulkerson. In this pape...

On Edge-Decomposition of Cubic Graphs into Copies of the Double-Star with Four Edges‎

‎A tree containing exactly two non-pendant vertices is called a double-star‎. ‎Let $k_1$ and $k_2$ be two positive integers‎. ‎The double-star with degree sequence $(k_1+1‎, ‎k_2+1‎, ‎1‎, ‎ldots‎, ‎1)$ is denoted by $S_{k_1‎, ‎k_2}$‎. ‎It is known that a cubic graph has an $S_{1,1}$-decomposition if and only if it contains a perfect matching‎. ‎In this paper‎, ‎we study the $S_{1,2}$-decomposit...

Cubic symmetric graphs of orders $36p$ and $36p^{2}$

A graph is textit{symmetric}, if its automorphism group is transitive on the set of its arcs. In this paper, we  classifyall the connected cubic symmetric  graphs of order $36p$  and $36p^{2}$, for each prime $p$, of which the proof depends on the classification of finite simple groups.
